With over 160 islands, 500 cays and atolls scattered over 250,000 square kilometers of ocean, island hopping is one of the top things to do by local and international tourists. Alotau is conveniently located on the tip of Milne Bay and is a great starting point for visitors wanting to explore Milne Bay’s numerous islands.

Fergusson Island has an active thermal region with hot springs, bubbling mud pools, sprouting geysers and underwater volcanic activity. Misima Island was the scene of a 1930’s gold rush while Woodluck Island is where the earliest Marist Missionaries settled in the province in 1647 and Killerton Island’s historical buildings were built by Samoans for the Kwato Church in the 1970’s.

Tourists can choose to experience any of these islands or visit uninhabited cays or atolls littered throughout Milne Bay and relax on white sandy beaches and swim as long as they desire.
